Our program aims to prepare youth for the workforce, explore career interests, and build work - related skills while supplementing income. Our program runs six weeks with youth working 20-25 hours weekly (this is the nor however exception can be made). Youth can perform Service Learning or Real Work Experience while enhancing community involvement and academic enrichment.

Our AAU Summer Program develops the leadership skills of Asian American youths and provides literacy-based multicultural education and community engagement. Youth leaders actively develop their leadership and community engagement skills by taking part in team building activities, community projects and weekly hands-on workshops taught by AAU’s lead staff team on topics such as: multicultural education pedagogy, social justice issues and Asian American history.

This voice and choice project will focus greatly on the 21st century skills, and the character development phase of the career development framework. The young people will enhance their skills of communication as a 21st century tool to research candidates, professions, and requirements to fulfill the respective careers. Our program will connect to broader citywide goals and efforts by exposing at-risk participants to vital skills required for them to become leaders.

Participants research, develop, and present a business plan in fields ranging from clothing design to multimedia production while participating in workshops centered on topics including public speaking and interviewing. Our program implements the use of 3D printers, a recording studio, clothing press machines, and other exciting aspects of our Boys & Girls Club.

Catholic Social Services Summer Work Ready programming offers two program levels for youth to engage with, an incentive based early program for youth ages 12-15 and our wage earning positions for youth ages 14 and up. Worksites are throughout the city and cover a range of opportunities including; Summer Camp positions, IT Intern program, Office assistants, Working with Community Organizations, Small Business Interns, and a few more! The goal of Freedom Schools Literacy Academy (FSLA) is to affirm low-income Black students by substantially increasing the number of Black teachers who work with Black students, with a specific focus on social justice. FSLAs are family and community-centered sites across the city of Philadelphia, designed to positively impact literacy development for young people of African descent during their foundational years, in order to secure their future academic success and intellectual development.

This program introduces students to design thinking, the basics of developing a startup, and the fundamentals of web development. It is partially asynchronous and meets once a week for 1.5 hours where students receive live instruction on key concepts. Students will work independently to identify a problem & users affected, conduct user and problem validation, build a wireframe, and learn HTML & CSS to build 5-page static website. They will also prepare a final presentation of their site.

Community College Of Philadelphia

The Pipeline to Advanced Manufacturing Careers Summer Programs are for students attending Ben Franklin, Mastbaum, and West Philadelphia HIgh Schools. 9th and 10th grade students will be able to participate in an Advanced Manufacturing Project-Based Summer Intensive. 11th and 12th grade students will participate in our Power Skills Academy, which includes the completion of the College's Career Readiness Soft Skills Pre-Apprenticeship Program and the National Career Readiness Certification.
