Participants research, develop, and present a business plan in fields ranging from clothing design to multimedia production while participating in workshops centered on topics including public speaking and interviewing. Our program implements the use of 3D printers, a recording studio, clothing press machines, and other exciting aspects of our Boys & Girls Club.

This program introduces students to design thinking, the basics of developing a startup, and the fundamentals of web development. It is partially asynchronous and meets once a week for 1.5 hours where students receive live instruction on key concepts. Students will work independently to identify a problem & users affected, conduct user and problem validation, build a wireframe, and learn HTML & CSS to build 5-page static website. They will also prepare a final presentation of their site.

Girls Inc. Of Greater Philadelphia & Southern New Jersey

Mentoring Young Women In Construction (MyWIC) Camp is a six-week hybrid camp for girls age 12- 14 interested in learning more about pursuing a career in construction. Girls will gain a hands-on experience while visiting different construction trades. This is an incentivized program.

The Workshop School WorkReady Summer programs are specifically targeted towards current Workshop School students. Our summer programs are an extension and expansion of work that students participate in during the academic year. For this reason, our summer program opportunities are limited to Workshop School students only. We have not yet confirmed the program offerings for summer 2022 and will provide an updated program description in early March.

Steppingstone Scholars, Inc.

The high school WorkReady program will provide incentive-based STEM programs (computer science/coding, chemistry, biotechnology, engineering), and wage-based programs placing students in jobs at local businesses such as grocery stores, book stores, cafes, etc.

Steppingstone Scholars, Inc.

Steppingstone Scholars will offer a wage-based program for current high school students to obtain an in-person summer job placement at a local business. This includes positions in customer service, retail. community gardening, etc. There will also be incentive-based program for current 12th graders & recent graduates who would like a program to support them in transitioning into the workforce. Lastly, we have incentive-based 9th-12th grade STEM programs in coding, engineering, biotech, etc.

UAC’s Summer Youth Employment Program provides paid summer job opportunities and valuable work experience to youth ages 14-18 through the WorkReady program. This six-week program provides career exposure, on-the-job mentoring and professional development. UAC’s youth participants have the opportunity to explore a range of career tracks, including Finance, Banking and Investing, Science and Technology, Civics and Social Justice, Entrepreneurship and Business, and the Creative and Expressive Arts
