Programs Offered
Freedom Schools Literacy Academy offers summer and afterschool programming to: Provide teaching apprenticeships and access to in-classroom teaching experiences, mentorship and professional development to promising high school students, college students and paraprofessionals. Help increase the literacy skills, phonemic awareness, academic confidence and positive racial identity and belongingness of Black scholars in kindergarten through second grade.

Please join us for the Summer Niche Jobs program! All youth who join our program will receive a combination of financial literacy and internship experiences aligned to their future dream jobs or niches. Youth will learn about investing, banking, and financial planning. Youth will travel to, improve upon, observe, and work for a variety of Philadelphia-based businesses and agencies to explore their future career interests.

The School District of Philadelphia, through The Office of Career and Technical Education, will provide summer employment and enrichment opportunities for high school students between 14 and 18 years of age. The Career and Technical Education (CTE) Summer Employment Program is an innovative program that affords CTE students, who currently attend Philadelphia Public Schools, the opportunity to gain valuable work experiences and develop meaningful skills that can be used in their future careers.

The U School Inc.
Our WorkReady program is an extension of our innovative one-year Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources CTE program. Youth engage in service learning on sustainable product making: food waste & composting; food safety (serve-safe food handler certification); and many options for natural resources projects. All participants engage in small business accelerator activities, financial literacy, food growing and cooking and product making, marketing, and sales. And field trips!

The Summer Youth Employment Program at UAC is dedicated to connecting youth to in-person work experiences. Businesses from industries and from neighborhoods throughout Philadelphia volunteer to host youth for the six-week program. The core population we serve are youth who are 14-18 years old. Rising 9th graders and current high school students are encouraged to apply. This is not a program for current college students. Current college students may inquire about opportunities at uac.org.

To Our Children'S Future With Health, Inc.
To Our Children’s Future With Health, Inc. provides workforce development training in-person at the Overbrook High School. We use a workforce readiness approach providing technical education training in Electrical, Customer Sales and Services, and Information Technology; and Community Advocacy (Philly On The Come Up) for youth in 9th-12th grades living in West Philadelphia. All youth receive Career Workforce Development and social emotional training to strengthen employment skills.

Vestedin
There is a known critical gap between the need for financial education in Philadelphia and the presence of innovative and comprehensive programs for students. WesGold Fellows was started in 2007 by VestedIn with the purpose of being a bridge that covers the gap between financial disparity and educational inequality. The WesGold Fellows program is a paid summer internship for high school youth focused on personal and professional development, financial literacy, real estate, and entrepreneurship.
