We offer work experience opportunities in the fields of Education and Community & Civic Engagement. Youth interested in Education will have opportunities to be Junior Camp Counselors working with children from 1st to 5th grades at one of our two Summer Camp programs. Youth interested in Community & Civic Engagement will have opportunities to work in our Literacy Rich Neighborhood project. The youth will work with urban development planners and network specialists.

Students Talking About Relationships (STAR) is all about working together to build a better world. You will learn about Teen Dating Violence, and how it is connected to other types of violence happening around the city, and work together with other teens to create a project to make a change. STAR is open to teens from across the city, if you care about your community and want to make a change, this is the job for you.

METWorks Youth Development Programs: MET is a PYN WorkReady Service Provider. For Summer 2022, paid student wages are now $11/hr. for up to 120 hours of work and training during the summer six week period starting July 1, 2022 through mid August 2022. The program offers Work Experience placements with local public/private sector employers, 21stCentury learning, entrepreneurship training, career shadowing, and job exposure. We target underserved minority in-school students ages 14 to 24.

Mural Arts Philadelphia

Enjoy making art and learning new creative skills? Get hands-on work readiness experience in what it takes to be a working artist! Our program focuses on creative expression and project-based learning, employing drawing, painting, photography, mixed media, mural making, and more to help you discover your distinctive artistic voice. You will also have the opportunity to work with locally and nationally known artists, contribute to public art projects, and develop a creative portfolio!

TAG is a hands on program where youth acquire and learn skills through activities. TAG stands for Technology Arts and Garden. Through Technology youth will learn computer skills, camera handling, focus on taking pictures. Arts youth can express themselves through drawing, painting murals learning about color schemes. Gardens youth will learn about seedlings, planting medicinal plants. Soil etc.. Youth will also harvest, cook and eat.

Opportunities Industrialization Centers (Philadelphia)

The PennRSSA Summer Academy is a virtual incentive program for rising high school seniors. Working with current Penn graduate students, Summer Academy participants will enhance their college and career readiness through a mix of live Zoom sessions, four asynchronous courses, and a Capstone Project. Program highlights include exposure to diverse career paths (e.g., medicine, law, engineering, education, social work) and help with key college application materials, including an essay and resume.

Pennsylvania School For The Deaf

The Pennsylvania School for the Deaf provides work opportunities for Deaf/hard-of-hearing youth who use American Sign Langauge. Youth work with Deaf and hearing adults fluent in ASL on campus in crews (restaurant, newsletter, car care service-learning entrepreneurship and internship). Goals are for participants to develop team working task completion, and reflective practices that will allow them to gain and retain future employment. All Deaf/HOH participants fluent in ASL are welcome.
